Wrexham based Poet Les Barker, will be performing in Welsh and English. 'At his best, he is an inspired genus. The only man who could produce a work to match 'Deja vu' was the late great Spike Milligan' Dai Woosnam.

Poet Les Barker has won an award for learning the Welsh language. The Inspire Adult Learner Awards are oganised by NIACE Dysgu Cymru and recognise the achievements of adult learners throughout Wales.

He began writing in Welsh by experimenting with the awdl (a long poem in strict meter), then translated Yr Odliadur, a book about rhyming, into English. He says: "I am delighted to have found a community where writing, singing, dancing and playing instruments are normal activities. Learning Welsh has been an enormous achievement for me and has really helped me to settle into the local culture."

Les Barker

I got 3 prizes in Maes D at the Eisteddfod Genedlaethol last year; one for
composition, one for performing a dialogue, and one for writing and
performing a dialogue with Sooty. They weren't expecting him.

I performed bilingually at Tegeingl in Yr Wyddgrug last August, and I've
done gigs with other Welsh poets in Wrexham and Cardiff.
